ASTM S120C Non-Mercury Thermometer, 38.5 to 41.5C, NIST Calibration

ASTM S120C Non-Mercury Thermometer has a total measurement range from 38.5 to 41.5C, with graduations of 0.05 degrees. These total immersion thermometers are specified for use in kinematic viscosity testing, and can be used for other applications within their range. Total length is 12.0in (305mm).

ASTM Non-Mercury Thermometers meet standard test method requirements for use in their referenced applications. The liquid-in-glass thermometers have the same performance characteristics as ASTM Mercury Thermometers, but use safe blue liquid as an alternative to mercury. The proprietary formula is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous. Dark blue color is easily read against the white-backed stem.

Features:

  • Meets ASTM E1, E77, E2251 requirements
  • Non-hazardous, biodegradable indicating fluid
  • Dark blue fluid is highly visible against white-backed stem
  • Acceptable for use in Saybolt Viscosity Testing

Comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. The NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration is a five-point calibration certificate from an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory. This accreditation is your assurance that the calibration is performed in a qualified, controlled lab. The calibration on the glass thermometer is performed using direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath with a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) and displays. The thermometer is also inspected for cracks and liquid-column separations before testing. Measurements are performed at 5 temperature points.

The ASTM S120C Non-Mercury Thermometer is a reliable and accurate tool for temperature measurement in a range from 38.5 to 41.5 degrees Celsius. With graduations of 0.05 degrees, this non-mercury thermometer is designed for use in kinematic viscosity testing, although it can also be used in other applications within its range.

One of the standout features of this thermometer is its use of a safe blue liquid as an alternative to mercury. This proprietary formula is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous, making it a safer option for both users and the environment. The dark blue color of the liquid is highly visible against the white-backed stem, ensuring ease of reading.

The ASTM S120C Non-Mercury Thermometer meets the requirements of ASTM E1, E77, and E2251. This ensures that it meets the necessary standards for accuracy and performance in its designated applications.

For added peace of mind, this thermometer comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. This certificate is issued by an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory, guaranteeing that the calibration has been performed in a qualified and controlled environment. The calibration process involves direct comparison using a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT), ensuring accurate and reliable measurements. The thermometer is also inspected for any cracks or liquid-column separations before testing.

With a total length of 12.0 inches (305mm), the ASTM S120C Non-Mercury Thermometer is a practical and convenient tool. However, it is important to store it vertically using a storage rack to prevent fluid column separation. Additionally, for protection and thermal stabilization, a thermometer well is recommended for use when using the thermometer in ovens or other exposed environments.

As part of the comprehensive range of ASTM thermometers, the S120C Non-Mercury Thermometer is a reliable and safe option for temperature measurement in numerous applications. With its NIST calibration, users can have confidence in its accuracy and performance.
