ASTM S18C Non-Mercury Thermometer, 34 to 42C, NIST Calibration

The ASTM S18C Non-Mercury Thermometer has a total measurement range from 34 to 42C, with graduations of 0.1 degrees. These total immersion thermometers are specified for use in saybolt viscosity testing, and can be used for other applications within their range. Total length is 11in (280mm).

ASTM Non-Mercury Thermometers meet standard test method requirements for use in their referenced applications. The liquid-in-glass thermometers have the same performance characteristics as ASTM Mercury Thermometers, but use safe blue liquid as an alternative to mercury. The proprietary formula is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous. Dark blue color is easily read against the white-backed stem.

Features:

  • Meets ASTM E1, E77, E2251 requirements
  • Non-hazardous, biodegradable indicating fluid
  • Dark blue fluid is highly visible against white-backed stem
  • Acceptable for use in Saybolt Viscosity Testing

Comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. The NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration is a five-point calibration certificate from an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory. This accreditation is your assurance that the calibration is performed in a qualified, controlled lab. The calibration on the glass thermometer is performed using direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath with a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) and displays. The thermometer is also inspected for cracks and liquid-column separations before testing. Measurements are performed at 5 temperature points.

The ASTM S18C Non-Mercury Thermometer is a reliable and safe alternative to traditional mercury thermometers. With a temperature range of 34 to 42C and graduations of 0.1 degrees, this thermometer is perfect for use in saybolt viscosity testing and other applications within its range. It is a total immersion thermometer with a length of 11 inches (280mm).

One of the key features of the ASTM S18C Non-Mercury Thermometer is its compliance with ASTM standards. It meets ASTM E1, E77, and E2251 requirements, ensuring its accuracy and reliability. The thermometer uses a non-hazardous and biodegradable blue fluid as an alternative to mercury. The dark blue fluid is highly visible against the white-backed stem, making it easy to read.

When you purchase the ASTM S18C Non-Mercury Thermometer, you will receive a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. This certificate guarantees that the calibration has been performed in a qualified, controlled lab. The thermometer is inspected for cracks and liquid-column separations before testing. The calibration is performed using a high-stability liquid bath in comparison with a Precision Reference Thermometer and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer at five temperature points.

To ensure the longevity of the thermometer, it is recommended to store it vertically using a storage rack. This will prevent any fluid column separation. Additionally, you can use a thermometer well for added protection and thermal stabilization when using the thermometer in ovens or other exposed environments.

For those interested in related blogs and information about thermometers, there are several blogs available on the website. Topics include the use of thermometers with mercury, the certification and specifications of precision ASTM thermometers, converting temperature measurements, the role of thermometers in concrete curing, and more.

Overall, the ASTM S18C Non-Mercury Thermometer is a reliable and safe tool for accurate temperature measurements. Its compliance with ASTM standards, NIST calibration, and practical features make it a valuable addition to laboratories and various applications.
