ASTM S58F Non-Mercury Thermometer, -30 to 120F, NIST Calibration
ASTM S58F Non-Mercury Thermometer has a total measurement range from -30 to 120F, with graduations of 1.0 degree. These total immersion thermometers are specified for use in tank testing, and can be used for other applications within their range. Total length is 12.0in (305mm).
ASTM Non-Mercury Thermometers meet standard test method requirements for use in their referenced applications. The liquid-in-glass thermometers have the same performance characteristics as ASTM Mercury Thermometers, but use safe blue liquid as an alternative to mercury. The proprietary formula is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous. Dark blue color is easily read against the white-backed stem.
Features:
- Meets ASTM E1, E77, E2251 requirements
- Non-hazardous, biodegradable indicating fluid
- Dark blue fluid is highly visible against white-backed stem
- Acceptable for use in Saybolt Viscosity Testing
Comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. The NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration is a five-point calibration certificate from an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory. This accreditation is your assurance that the calibration is performed in a qualified, controlled lab. The calibration on the glass thermometer is performed using direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath with a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) and displays. The thermometer is also inspected for cracks and liquid-column separations before testing. Measurements are performed at 5 temperature points.

The ASTM S58F Non-Mercury Thermometer is a high-quality thermometer designed for tank testing and other applications within its temperature range. With a total measurement range from -30 to 120F and graduations of 1.0 degree, this thermometer provides accurate and precise temperature readings.
One of the key features of this thermometer is its use of safe blue liquid as an alternative to mercury. The proprietary formula of the blue liquid is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous, ensuring the safety of both users and the environment. The dark blue color of the liquid makes it highly visible against the white-backed stem, making it easy to read.
This thermometer meets the requirements of ASTM E1, E77, and E2251 standards. It also comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration, which is provided by an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory. This certificate ensures that the calibration is performed in a qualified and controlled lab, giving you confidence in the accuracy and reliability of the thermometer's measurements. The calibration is done using direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath with a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) and displays. The thermometer is also inspected for any cracks or liquid-column separations before testing.
For proper storage, it is recommended to store the Non-Mercury Thermometer vertically using a storage rack to prevent fluid column separation. Additionally, the thermometer well provides protection and thermal stabilization for glass laboratory thermometers used in ovens or other exposed environments.
Overall, the ASTM S58F Non-Mercury Thermometer is a trustworthy and accurate instrument for temperature measurement. With its wide temperature range, safe non-mercury liquid, and NIST calibration, it is an ideal choice for tank testing and other applications within its range.
