ASTM S5C Non-Mercury Thermometer, -38 to 50C, NIST Calibration

The ASTM S5C Non-Mercury Thermometer has a total measurement range from -38 to 50C. The liquid-in-glass thermometer has the same performance characteristics as ASTM Mercury Thermometers, but use safe blue liquid as an alternative to mercury. The proprietary formula is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous. Dark blue color is easily read against the white-backed stem.

Features:

  • Meets ASTM E1, E77, E2251 requirements
  • Non-hazardous, biodegradable indicating fluid
  • Dark blue fluid is highly visible against white-backed stem
  • Acceptable for use in Saybolt Viscosity Testing

Comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. The NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration is a five-point calibration certificate from an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory. This accreditation is your assurance that the calibration is performed in a qualified, controlled lab. The calibration on the glass thermometer is performed using direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath with a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) and displays. The thermometer is also inspected for cracks and liquid-column separations before testing. Measurements are performed at 5 temperature points.

The ASTM S5C Non-Mercury Thermometer is an essential tool for measuring temperatures ranging from -38 to 50C. This liquid-in-glass thermometer offers the same level of performance as ASTM Mercury Thermometers, but with the use of a safe blue liquid instead of mercury. The proprietary formula of the blue liquid is biodegradable, non-toxic, and non-hazardous, providing a safe and environmentally-friendly alternative.

One standout feature of this thermometer is its dark blue color, which makes it easily readable against the white-backed stem. This ensures that users can accurately and quickly read the measured temperature without any confusion or difficulty. Additionally, the thermometer meets ASTM E1, E77, and E2251 requirements, meeting the highest standards of accuracy and reliability.

With the included NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration, users can trust in the accuracy and precision of this thermometer. The certificate is provided by an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory, guaranteeing that the calibration was performed in a qualified and controlled environment. The calibration is conducted using direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath, with measurements taken at five temperature points. This ensures that the thermometer provides precise and reliable temperature readings.

The ASTM S5C Non-Mercury Thermometer also comes with an immersion length of 4.3 inches (108mm), making it suitable for various applications, including Saybolt Viscosity Testing. It has a temperature division of 1 degree, allowing for precise temperature measurements. To further protect and stabilize the thermometer, users can opt for the Thermometer Well, which provides thermal stabilization for glass laboratory thermometers used in ovens or other exposed environments.

Overall, the ASTM S5C Non-Mercury Thermometer offers accuracy, reliability, and safety with its non-mercury alternative. Whether you need to measure temperatures in a laboratory, industry, or any other setting, this thermometer is a dependable and environmentally-friendly choice.
