ASTM S5F Non-Mercury Thermometer, -36 to 120F, NIST Calibration

The ASTM S5F Non-Mercury Thermometer has a total measurement range from -36 to 120F. Division is 2 degree. The liquid-in-glass thermometer has the same performance characteristics as ASTM Mercury Thermometers, but use safe blue liquid as an alternative to mercury. The proprietary formula is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous. Dark blue color is easily read against the white-backed stem.

Features:

  • Meets ASTM E1, E77, E2251 requirements
  • Non-hazardous, biodegradable indicating fluid
  • Dark blue fluid is highly visible against white-backed stem
  • Acceptable for use in Saybolt Viscosity Testing

Comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. The NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration is a five-point calibration certificate from an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory. This accreditation is your assurance that the calibration is performed in a qualified, controlled lab. The calibration on the glass thermometer is performed using direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath with a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) and displays. The thermometer is also inspected for cracks and liquid-column separations before testing. Measurements are performed at 5 temperature points.

The ASTM S5F Non-Mercury Thermometer is a high-quality thermometer that offers accurate temperature readings from -36 to 120F. With a division of 2 degrees, this liquid-in-glass thermometer provides precise measurements for a wide range of applications.

Unlike traditional mercury thermometers, the ASTM S5F Non-Mercury Thermometer uses a safe blue liquid as an alternative. This proprietary formula is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous, making it an environmentally-friendly choice. The dark blue color of the fluid is highly visible against the white-backed stem, ensuring that readings are easy to read.

This thermometer meets the requirements of ASTM E1, E77, and E2251, which ensures its accuracy and reliability. It is suitable for use in Saybolt Viscosity Testing, making it a versatile tool in various industries.

The ASTM S5F Non-Mercury Thermometer comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. This certificate provides assurance that the calibration is performed in a qualified, controlled laboratory. The calibration process involves direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath using a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) and displays. Before testing, the thermometer is also inspected for cracks and liquid-column separations.

With an immersion length of 4.3 inches, a length of 4.2 inches, and a non-mercury type, this thermometer offers convenience and ease of use. To ensure the longevity of the thermometer and prevent fluid column separation, it should be stored vertically using a storage rack.

For additional protection and thermal stabilization in demanding environments, the thermometer can be used with a Thermometer Well. This well provides added security for glass laboratory thermometers used in ovens or other exposed conditions.

Overall, the ASTM S5F Non-Mercury Thermometer is a reliable and accurate instrument that meets industry standards and provides a safe alternative to mercury thermometers. With its NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration and versatile applications, it is a valuable tool for professionals in a wide range of fields.
