RETSCH 205350001 Planetary Ball Mills rapidly grind most soft to hard/brittle materials to 1µm or less, and are useful for wet or dry grinding, mixing, emulsifying or homogenizing. The grinding bowls rotate on their own axis while mounted on a counter-rotating platform (sun wheel). Grinding balls roll halfway around the bowl, then are thrown across to impact the opposite side at high speed. Very fine, narrow size ranges are achieved in much shorter time than conventional ball mills. Maximum feed size is 10mm and sample volume is up to 300ml with a single 500ml grinding jar.
Retsch Planetary Ball Mill, 4-Station, is a large-capacity, four-station floor model that can accommodate up to four 500ml jars or eight stacked 50ml jars at one time. Maximum sample capacity is typically less than 40% of jar volume. A sliding counterbalance weight on an inclined ramp compensates for both mass and center of gravity of the grinding jar. An additional weight is available for use with heavy jars when total mass exceeds 5.6kg. An intuitive, one-button rotary selector navigates through the multi-language menus. Energy input and speeds adjustable from 100-650rpm are electronically controlled for reliable and reproducible results. Energy input is directly measured and displayed in kilojoules. Ten combinations of grinding parameters can be stored in memory for easy retrieval. A unique programmable reversing action promotes better mixing and de-caking of sample. An imbalance sensor and force-compensating mounting feet as sure smooth operation. The chamber ventilation fan allows safe operation during solvent-based wet grinding operations.
Retsch Grinding Jars and Balls are purchased separately to suit individual sample characteristics. All combinations of ball and bowl sizes and materials are too numerous to list here.
