2000g Pycnometer
The 2000g Pycnometer is an essential tool for determining the theoretical maximum specific gravity of uncompacted bituminous paving mixtures, commonly known as the Rice Test. It also functions as a volumeter for calculating the specific gravity of compacted bituminous mixtures.
This complete set is designed to test samples up to 2000g (4.4 lbs), suitable for mixes with aggregates up to 3/4" (19.1mm). The core of the set is a durable, corrosion-resistant aluminum volumetric canister measuring 7.5" in diameter and 6" deep (191x152mm).
A key feature is the transparent vacuum lid, which allows for clear observation of bubble release during the de-airing process, ensuring the complete removal of entrapped air for accurate results. In addition to the vacuum lid, the set includes a tapered aluminum lid with a capillary bore, allowing the pycnometer to be used as a volumeter.
The package comes with all necessary accessories, including a vacuum hose with a quick-disconnect fitting and a 3/8" (9.5mm) threaded aspirator for creating a vacuum source.
Features:
- Performs theoretical maximum specific gravity (Rice Test) on uncompacted paving mixtures.
- Doubles as a volumeter to determine the specific gravity of compacted specimens.
- Accommodates samples up to 2,000g with aggregates up to 3/4" (19.1mm).
- Transparent lid for easy monitoring of bubble release during testing.
