Sample Ejector, 4in Molds
Gilson Sample Ejectors are designed to efficiently remove compacted soil or asphalt specimens from 4in and 6in (101.6mm and 152.4mm) Soil-Density or Marshall molds. Optional adapter rings allow extrusion of soil samples from 2, 2.5, or 3in (51, 64, or 76mm) diameter Shelby tubes.
The ejector features a powerful 12,000lbf (53.4kN) hydraulic jack with a 5.75in (146mm) stroke, mounted in a durable, three-column plated steel frame. Molds are securely positioned vertically over the piston on a load platform, preventing the emptied mold from falling back over the jack. Frame height is adjustable to fit molds up to 11.75in (298mm) in length.
Specimens longer than 5in are easily removed by repositioning the Adapter Ring after reaching maximum piston travel. The spring-loaded piston automatically resets to its starting position when the release valve is opened. Adapter Rings can be quickly swapped using two wing nuts, while Extruder Discs are secured to the piston for reliable operation.
The Sample Ejector is specifically equipped for use with 4in (101.6mm) soil compaction or Marshall asphalt molds.
