ASTM S22C Non-Mercury Thermometer, 95 to 103C, NIST Calibration

ASTM S22C Non-Mercury Thermometer has a total measurement range from 95 to 103C, with graduations of 0.1 degrees. These total immersion thermometers are specified for use in saybolt viscosity testing, and can be used for other applications within their range. Total length is 11in (280mm).

ASTM Non-Mercury Thermometers meet standard test method requirements for use in their referenced applications. The liquid-in-glass thermometers have the same performance characteristics as ASTM Mercury Thermometers, but use safe blue liquid as an alternative to mercury. The proprietary formula is biodegradable, nontoxic, and nonhazardous. Dark blue color is easily read against the white-backed stem.

Features:

  • Meets ASTM E1, E77, E2251 requirements
  • Non-hazardous, biodegradable indicating fluid
  • Dark blue fluid is highly visible against white-backed stem
  • Acceptable for use in Saybolt Viscosity Testing

Comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration. The NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration is a five-point calibration certificate from an ISO/IEC accredited laboratory. This accreditation is your assurance that the calibration is performed in a qualified, controlled lab. The calibration on the glass thermometer is performed using direct comparison in a high-stability liquid bath with a Precision Reference Thermometer (PRT) and Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer (SPRT) and displays. The thermometer is also inspected for cracks and liquid-column separations before testing. Measurements are performed at 5 temperature points.

The ASTM S22C Non-Mercury Thermometer is a reliable and safe alternative to traditional mercury thermometers. With a temperature range of 95 to 103 degrees Celsius and graduations of 0.1 degrees, this thermometer is ideal for use in saybolt viscosity testing and other applications within its range.

One of the standout features of this thermometer is its use of a non-hazardous and biodegradable blue liquid instead of mercury. This liquid is not only safe to use but also highly visible against the white-backed stem, making it easy to read and interpret the measurements.

The ASTM S22C Non-Mercury Thermometer meets ASTM E1, E77, and E2251 requirements, ensuring its accuracy and reliability in various testing applications. Additionally, it comes with a NIST Traceable Certificate of Calibration, providing assurance that the calibration has been performed in a qualified and controlled laboratory.

To ensure the longevity of the thermometer and prevent fluid column separation, it is recommended to store it vertically using a storage rack. For added protection and thermal stabilization in exposed environments, the thermometer can also be used with a thermometer well.

For those interested in exploring other options, this thermometer is part of a product line that includes ASTM Mercury Filled Thermometers. These products offer the same performance characteristics but with the use of mercury instead of the non-hazardous blue liquid.

Overall, the ASTM S22C Non-Mercury Thermometer is a reliable and environmentally friendly choice for temperature measurements. With its accurate readings, NIST calibration, and safe alternative to mercury, it is a valuable tool in various testing and laboratory environments.
